Transforming the boogeyman

Great article over at the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Sexual assault on campus: Culture change 101, By Pam Louwagie.

These programs are teaching them, in effect, how to rehabilitate their inner boogeyman. It's predatory when a man acts in an intentional manner in order to achieve sexual gratification that has not been consented to. It's empowering to take steps to educate and enlighten, from the ground up, with proponents from within the fraternities as is outlined in this article.
These programs show that the focus should be on the offensive behavior itself — not on safeguards and charms against wolf-like behavior.

Hi Annette
This is a wonderful idea. No, women shouldn't have to be the gender that always has to 'guard', 'protect'. Men too often get away with rape and date rape or fraternity rape is even something to brag about. They need serious teachings in this area. Hope it takes.
Thanks for adding me to your blogroll. My linked address to this comment is to my blogger.com where I keep up somewhat with a variety of things other than my poems. I've just about given up myspace for now. I'm still in a bad cfids slump and barely have the energy to keep up minimum computer work until this lifts. I'm adding your link to blogger. Check me out there, too.
Glad to see you in a venue I can visit.
