Bare branches

bare branches
Annette Marie Hyder
i remember your tears falling
like leaves really
that left muddy tracks
down your cracked cheeks
those brittle eyes
that could shed such tears
so sere
and looking toward winter
what could i do?
what could i do?
I pressed a kiss to my fingers
and then to your cheek
where it burrowed
a frightened thing
became a seed
with the promise of spring
if you could only water it
with something besides
your dessicated sorrow

Your poem strikes a truth in the essence of ... Love

Great picture! I was wondering which came first, the picture or the poem?

Hi Amanda!
The poem came first. Then when we were out Sunday afternoon, Jasmine took that picture (along with some really cool fire escape photos and pics of the Farmer's Market -- deserted) and it made me think of the poem I had just written. I immediately wanted to post her pic and my poem to the blog.
