Annette Marie Hyder

Annette Marie Hyder is a freelance journalist, an author and a poet. She is the founder and curator of the international feminist project, "Facing Feminism: Feminists I Know." Her articles have appeared in print throughout the United States and internationally. Her most recent book is "The Real Reason the Queen Hated Snow" published by Twilight Times Books. She is currently happily at work on a novel of magical realism.

Minnesota sure loves quirky

We're the only state to have elected a former wrestler (Jesse Ventura) to the office of Governor and now we (just might probably) have former comedian, Al Franken, as our new Governor.

From Reuters:

Democratic senatorial candidate, and well known satirist and a former writer and actor for the popular Saturday Night Live television show, Al Franken (DFL-MN) beat Republican incumbent Norm Coleman to win the U.S. Senate seat from Minnesota, officials conducting a final recount said on Monday, though the loser promised to challenge the result.
The outcome found Franken edged Coleman by 225 votes out of nearly 2.9 million votes cast, but Coleman's lawyer complained the recount was conducted unfairly and promised a court contest that could take weeks to resolve.
