In case you were wondering
By Annette Marie Hyder
Does it even matter?
That you lost sleep over something
that you gave it grave thought
that you gave a donation
that you fought an onslaught
of will-weakening doubts
and arms loose at your sides
when in the end you stood up
and you raised those arms high?
Does your contribution make a difference
is your voice even heard
amid the bleatings and mooings
of the popular-belief herd
that stamps their hard hooves
and scrapes their sharp horns
against all of your logic and your
reasonable words?
What can you accomplish
in circumstances such as these
wouldn't it be better to stay at your ease
or at least to go with the flow
and not be trampled beneath
the multiple hooves of common belief?
Well it matters to me.
