Giant dominoes stand as tribute to the fall of the Berlin Wall
Towering (7.5 ft. high) dominoes, painted by German students, line the former path of the Berlin Wall to mark the 20th anniversary of the opening of the barrier that divided the city for nearly three decades.
The formal commemorations of the wall's opening on Nov. 9 1989, will be held this coming Monday and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Russian President Dimitry Medvedev (among others) are expected to be there.
The dominoes, approximately 1,000 of them stretching for a mile, will be toppled Monday as part of the celebration of the wall's fall.

the fall of the wall was

as inevitable as the toppling over of dominoes
the fast blur
the hissing click that murmurs along
like a breath being exhaled through clattering teeth
it would have happened
had to have happened
eventually
but what a privilege to be witness
to its falling and to have seen the end
of a "game" that could have been played
indefinitely
